Our theme word today was ‘party’ and together we wrote a poem with a difference. Our party poem was a celebration of words and our focus was
on excellent vocabulary and originality of thought. Here is what we wrote:

The eTime Word Party: All Words Invited!

Lonely words sit in the shadows,
Old words always lose their dentures,
Gobbling words eat all day long,
Joyful words bounce on trampolines,
Scholarly words like to gather knowledge,
Ancient words roll in their graves,
Amazing words jump through hoops,
Artistic words paint Greek heroes,
Twisted words need walking sticks,
Entertaining words put on plays,
Complicated words say things like anesthetic,
Clean words squeak as they walk,
Chinese words bang a gong,
Kingly words give shouting orders,
Vagrant words wander down streets,
Architectural words design cathedrals,
Flying words dance on the moon,
Bored words only have one mood,
Portmanteau words squeeze two to the seat and burst at the seams,
Rotten words never brush their teeth,
Friendly words take you by the hand,
Kung fu words slam people down,

And now, the dictionary is finished,
These words can never be diminished

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak was the story for today, first we read it together and then viewed it digitally. This story portrayed a party with a difference… a wild rumpus of a party! We decided to create our own wild rumpus musical motive using GarageBand. We planned first, based on our understanding of the essential elements of musical composition: tempo, dynamics and pitch.
