Te Waihora Cluster - GAT day at eTime
Posted on Sunday, 7 March 2010, 8:30 a.m. by Megan Feller
PresentingThe first of four GAT days planned for the Te Waihora Cluster in 2010 was held at eTime. One teacher and three children from the cluster schools will attend these days throughout the year. The day provides professional development for the teachers and a day for the children to be immersed in a digital environment.
On this particular day, the group looked at The Lorax, the children's book by Dr. Seuss. This book chronicles the plight of the environment and the Lorax who speaks for the trees against the greedy Once-ler. The children had to re-write the ending to this story, to include themselves as Super Heroes, using plenty of imagination to find a way to save the environment.
The children used the internet, digital photography, Photoshop Elements and Comic Life throughout the day.
